Although these failed to reach statistical significance, we revealed that MDD patients taking more than one DDD of psychotropics were more likely to exhibit signs of bipolar disorder or schizophrenia than those taking less than one DDD (antidepressant: odds ratio: 8.25; 95% CI: 0.89–76.1; benzodiazepine: odds ratio: 4.55; 95% CI: 0.80–26.0) ( Supplementary Fig. 3 , Supplementary Table 2 ).
