Further, we measured liver function markers, and our results showed that ESRD HCV + patients had significantly lower serum concentration of aspartate aminotransferase (AST) (26.10 ± 1.71 versus 34.53 ± 3.22 U/l; p = 0.014, Figure 1(c) ) and decreased serum level of alanine aminotransferase (ALT) (it did not reach statistical significance, data not shown), compared to HCV + patients.
