Feeder Cell Type Affects the Growth of In Vitro Cultured Bovine Trophoblast Cells.

The isolated trophoblastic cells showed faster growth pattern in primary culture on PGCs, in one-week colony diameter measured 7.0 ± 0.3 mm, compared to those cultured on MEFs; colonies grew to 5.7 ± 0.4 mm ( P ≤ 0.05; Figures 2(a) and 2(b) ), whereas, on subsequent cultures (2nd–10th) the difference in colony morphology, although it was visually larger when trophoblasts were cultured on PGCs compared to MEFs, did not reach statistical significance ( P > 0.05; Figures 2(c) , 2(d) , 2(e) , and 2(f) ).
