In our analysis, the mortality of patients with ESBL- E coli BSI that were treated with empiric BL/BLIs (18.6 %) was lower compared with the mortality of patients with ESBL- E coli BSI that were treated with empiric carbapenems (26.8%); however, the difference in mortality did not reach statistical significance.
