Stability of the diabetic skin microbiome over time Longitudinal analysis of the skin microbiome over time showed a trend of lower stability for diabetic skin than non-diabetic skin ( Fig. 4 ), however this difference did not reach significance ( p = 0.09), while both control and diabetic skin intrapersonal differences over time were significantly smaller (i.e., more stable) than inter-individual differences ( p < 0.05).
