Despite a strong trend to increasing function with more inhibitors, treatment with a selection of combinations of ion channel inhibitors had no significant effect on behavioural responses at this acute phase following injury, when compared to vehicle treated animals (p > 0.05), in contrast to our reported preservation of visual function with the three inhibitors in combination at 3 months after injury [ 49 ].
