Also, we found that older patients (> 75 years old) and patients with BMI >35 showed a trend of having a lower chance of being discharged on DOS, which is also supported by some previous findings showing that higher BMI and higher age have a negative effect on LOS (Maradit Kremers et al. 2014 , Mathijssen et al. 2016 , Petis et al. 2016 , Sibia et al. 2016 ) This, however, contrasts with a recent study which found that only THA patients with high BMI had an increased risk of prolonged LOS, and that this did not apply to TKA patients (Husted et al. 2016 ).
