Recurrence of instability occurred at a rate of 11.7% for the open group and 20% for the arthroscopic group, although the difference did not reach statistical significance. 5 The groups experienced similar levels of return to sport: 80% and 86% for the open and arthroscopic groups, respectively ( P > .05). 5 Complication rates were also similar: 4 patients in the open group (3 wound infections, 1 musculocutaneous nerve injury) and 2 patients in the arthroscopic group (pain from suture knot).
