When the heterozygous MTHFD1 1958GA variant was evaluated according to cancer risk, the analysis did not reach statistical significance (OR = 0.48, CI 0.22–1.03, p = 0.058) whereas the homozygotic condition, i.e. 1958AA, was associated to a 75% reduction of colon cancer risk (OR = 0.25, CI 0.09–0.68, p = 0.006) ( Fig 3 ).
