Consistent with a causative role of activin in severe AP, we observed a biologically relevant and statistical significant, albeit modest, reduction of mortality on the first day of treatment (23% versus 0%, p < 0.05) with an overall favorable hazard ratio of 0.579, which did not reach statistical significance.
