On a quantitative basis, we observed a clear trend where low ( r 0 ≈ 10 –8 M s –1 ), moderate ( r 0 ≈ 10 –6 M s –1 ), and high ( r 0 ≈ 10 –4 M s –1 ) initial reduction rates corresponded to Pd seeds with plate-like (stacking fault-lined), icosahedral (multiply twinned), and truncated octahedral (single-crystal) structures, respectively, as illustrated in Fig. 5 .
