Frequencies of sera reacting against neural structures did not reach statistical significance, likely due to the small number of controls and to a relatively high proportion of controls showing moderate unspecific staining, but it could be, as has been suggested for anti-ganglioside antibodies, that naturally occurring antibodies targeting nerve structures, are frequent in healthy population 39 .
