Densely conglomerated amyloid plaques in the ipsilateral thalamus, which were reported as secondary neurodegeneration after MCAO, were more frequently observed in M + B rats (5/12, 41.7%) than in M + S rats (2/12, 16.7%), although this result did not reach statistical significance ( p = 0.178, Fig. 5 ).
