FKN and OPN, two chemokines involved in monocyte recruitment and adhesion and previously shown to be involved in IR [30] , [31] , [32] , [33] , showed a two-fold increase in their mRNA expression in the omental adipose tissue of the morbidly obese patients with the lower insulin sensitivity, however this increase did not reach statistical significance, due maybe to the low number of subjects ( Table 2 ).
