For instance, fruit and vegetable associations with total carotenoid concentration and with individual carotenoids was present among Chinese participants (from r = 0.30 for lutein, to r = 0.52 for alpha-carotene) and to some extent Malays although, besides lycopene, associations did not reach statistical significance, but were absent among Indians.
