Tumor vascularization was then characterized by image detection algorithms, which showed that tumors in mutant mice differed significantly in the length of vascular segments between branch points, had altered vascular architecture (vessel straightness), and showed a trend to an increase in the overall amount of patent endothelium ( Figures 3 H and 3I).
