At the same time, a negative trend is noticed in some countries such as Brazil, Egypt, Japan, UK, and the Netherlands where the number of causality has increased due to oral cancer.[ 1 ] The main risk factors associated with the development of oral cancer and potentially malignant lesions (PML) are smoking, consuming alcohol, and betel quid.[ 3 ] Early diagnosis of OSCC followed by prompt treatment can offer the best chance for cure and improve the survival rate of patients.
