Poisson regression models showed that increasing age and lower education were statistically significant risk factors for development of dementia and probable AD, whereas an association with gender did not reach statistical significance. 26 The Osaki-Tajiri study 25 investigated the incidence and associated risk factors for dementia in a community-based population aged over 65 years in northern Japan (Osaki-Tajiri).
