Consistent with the greater antiviral activity of EFV compared to NVP [ 88 , 89 ], resistance was also less likely to be observed among participants on EFV-based first-line regimens (40% of participants without any resistance were on EFV-based regimens compared to 17% of individuals with resistance of any kind), although this did not reach statistical significance ( p = 0.08).
