We also observed a moderately significant enrichment of bpsms on lagging strand genes in V. fischeri , where 86/176 (48.86%) coding bpsms occurred in regions containing lagging strand genes, despite only 40.41% of coding bases being on the lagging strand (χ 2 = 5.223, d.f. = 1, P = 0.022).
