When controlling for age and sex, problem gambling was statistically significant associated with the number of daily mobile phone calls (df 1, OR 1.33 [1.07–1.65]), the frequency of using the mobile phone for games (df 1, OR 1.57 [1.37–1.80]), with subjective dependence on one's mobile phone (df 1, OR 1.09 [1.01–1.18]), and the association of problem gambling with the number of friends to communicate with during 1 day (df 1, OR 1.37 [0.99–1.99]) was nearly statistically significant.
