Through the rapid evolution of the platform technologies there is a clear trend towards simpler actuation, higher density of partitions, larger reaction volume, and the use of microfabrication methods that support high volume manufacturing. dPCR platforms currently lack the sample multiplexing of qPCR while providing unique assay multiplexing capabilities.
