Genotype AA was the most frequent and experienced an increasing trend towards the south, whereas genotype BB, present in low or very low frequencies in all populations, showed a decreasing southwards trend.
Interestingly, the most frequent alleles for both Gmo34 and Gmo132 displayed a strong and highly significant trend in the north-south gradient (Fig. 4 ).
