The results were consistent with a previous comparison of AA2 gene repertoires in Polyporales genomes, which showed a trend for larger AA2 gene families in the phlebioid clade that contains the deeply studied white-rot fungus Phanerochaete chrysosporium (16 AA2 coding genes; Fig. 1 , [ 16 ]).
