Multivariate logistic regression analysis demonstrated that polymicrobial blood culture remained statistically highly significant independent predictor of lethal outcome when compared to both Gram-positive (standard β value 3.950; OR 51.922, 95% CI 13.777–195.681; p ≤ 0.001) and Gram-negative (standard β value 3.117; OR 22.584, 95% CI 4.465–114.231; p ≤ 0.001) blood cultures.
