In order to avoid interpreting main or interaction effects that may be significant by chance, Cohen and colleagues advice to only evaluate regression coefficients at each step if the predictors in the step as a whole explain a statistically significant portion of variance in resource control at the p < 0.05 level (Cohen et al. 2003 , p. 188).
