The effect of this variable in predicting the genotype was highly significant when controlled for age and sex [ p < 0.001, Wald = 10.689, Exp( B ) = 1.068 (95% CI = 1.027–1.111], corresponding to a 6.8% increase in the odds of being wild-type with every additional % elevation in the relative time spent in the closed arms.
The results revealed no statistically significant differences in any examined brain regions, revealing at most non-significant tendencies for a male preponderance especially in the pontomedullary brainstem and the motor cortex in the region-wise analysis; however, a nominally significant though rather slight overall difference could be detected between the mean vacuolation scores of all analyzed brain regions in the pooled analysis, suggesting a minimal overall predominance in males (2.3 ± 0.1 vs. 2.1 ± 0.1, p = 0.036).
