Consistent with these findings, the expression of a master regulator of lipogenic genes, Srebp1c (sterol regulatory element-binding protein1c), was reduced dramatically in steatotic livers compared with normal livers, and Hif-1α deficiency showed a trend toward further decreased expression of Srebp1c (Fig. 3 ).
