Uniplanar and biplanar/circular EF had similar rate of bone fusion (Unilateral = 86.1%; 95% CI 77.1 to 95.1; biplanar/circular = 89.1%; 95% CI 81.4 to 96.8), but a nearly significant difference in this outcome was detected when EF with pins (85.8%; 95% CI 77.9 to 93.7) was compared to EF with wires (94.6 95% CI 86.0 to 103.1).
