Similarly, in an 8-week single-arm pilot study including patients with type 1 diabetes ( n = 40), empagliflozin lowered glycemic variability and showed a trend toward increased time spent with glucose in the target range (≥70 to ≤140 mg/dL) compared with baseline, with more prominent effects on nighttime glycemia compared with daytime glycemia. 22 Canagliflozin has also demonstrated improvements in indices of glycemic variability.
