A relatively large difference was also noted between the proportion of patients in the post-protocol group with post-IVH as their presenting diagnosis compared to the pre-protocol group (18.0% compared to 28.6%), another factor described in literature as associated with infection [ 15 ], although this difference was not quite statistically significant ( p = 0.06).
