While some of this variation may be a result of mutations induced by ethidium bromide, the absence of a strong trend for any specific ρ 0 strain in the resulting cybrids or synthetic hybrids suggests that these differences more likely reflect experimental variation or the additional genome instability of the allopolyploid lager strains.
