In Uruguay, there was a reduction in consolidated pneumonia hospitalizations in children aged 36–59 months from 741 per 100,000 to 633 per 100,000 that did not reach statistical significance. 36 Additional data from the same study reported no decrease in hospitalizations in children aged 5–14 years, suggesting no herd protection effect in this age group.
