Interestingly, in a case series of 57 tumors from 27 patients with multifocal PTC, cases with at least four nodules tended to have concordant BRAF V600E mutation status (8 of 9, or 89%) as compared to those with three nodules or less (9 of 18, or 50%), although this did not reach statistical significance ( 9 ).
