35 , 38 This study actually showed a trend toward decreased mortality in children who received fluids more rapidly. 35 Conclusion While the appropriate timing and volume of fluids for children with sepsis remain a matter of debate, and several ongoing trials are attempting to study this question, 39 , 40 it is widely accepted that children with decompensated shock and hypotension require rapid restoration of intravascular volume.
