There was a significant trend toward higher ORs for ischemic stroke per 1 SD–higher carotid measures at younger ages and lower SBP levels (eg, the OR for ischemic stroke with plaque burden varied from 1.23; 95% CI, 1.11-1.37 at ages 70-89 years to 1.52; 95% CI, 1.32-1.76 at ages 40-39 years, P = .02 for trend, and from 1.20; 95% CI, 1.10-1.31 at SBP ≥140 mm Hg to 1.44; 95% CI, 1.23-1.69 at SBP <120 mm Hg, P = .02 for trend) (eFigure 3 in the Supplement ).
