Although apparently minor, small changes in nucleosome spacing are likely to have profound changes in the local chromatin structure 41 and given the role of CTCF in determination of the topological associated domain (TAD) structures, this may lead to quite significant changes of high‐level chromatin architecture and hence gene regulation.
