Consistent with these findings, dantrolene, a RyR antagonist that decreases the intracellular calcium level ( Fruen et al., 1997 ), was also identified as a modestly effective small molecule in our chemical screening, although it did not reach statistical significance in our detailed analyses ( Table S3 and data not shown).
