As expected, when included simultaneously in the Cox model, associations of both metabolites were weaker but remained nominally significant for hexadecanedioate (model 1: HR [95% CI] 1.22 [1.04; 1.44], p = 0.02; model 2: HR [95% CI] 1.14 [1.00; 1.39], p = 0.09) but not tetradecanedioate (model 1: HR [95% CI] 0.93 [0.80–1.08], p = 0.35; model 2: HR [95% CI] 0.98 [0.81; 1.17], p = 0.80).
