The resulting signature, 4-GES (consisting of SOCS2 , IL2RA , NPDC1 , and PHGDH ) was confirmed as an independent prognostic parameter in five of six additional data sets, including some that contained cytogenetically heterogeneous patient groups and/or employed different gene expression profiling technologies, and just fell short of significance in the sixth data set.
