Interestingly, HbA1c levels showed a trend toward increase in the control group, and this could be explained by the fact that pharmacological antidiabetic treatment is not adequate to maintain fluctuations in HbA 1c , and other aspects, including stress and sleep, should be considered. 37 , 38 In addition, previous case reports suggested that increasing HbA 1c despite antidiabetic medication could be due to hereditary persistence of hemoglobin F.
