38 Two-month treatment with paroxetine showed a trend toward a higher percentage of patients without PAs (50%) than citalopram (24%), suggesting higher antipanic efficacy of paroxetine, possibly related to its adjunctive anticholinergic properties. 50 Considering that paroxetine showed direct effects on respiration in animal studies and capability of decreasing respiratory irregularity in Is-PD, 51 this compound may be particularly suitable for Is-PD with respiratory profile.
