Other international-based studies also noted that poor vision reduced the QOL and caused a decrease in most domains of health-related QOL scores.[ 5 13 ] In Nigeria, poor QOL has also been reported in people with severe visual impairment and this was associated with reduced functioning and social interaction.[ 6 12 ] Significant reduction in QOL was also noted in patients with glaucoma with a clear trend of worsening QOL scores, with increasing severity of disease.[ 6 ] Improvement in the QOL should, therefore, become a major goal in the provision of health care.
