Apixaban reduced risk of bleeding compared to warfarin to a higher degree among patients with renal impairment than among patients without renal impairment [ 7 ], whereas dabigatran showed a significant trend towards higher risk of major bleeding compared to warfarin among patients with low renal function compared to patients with normal renal function [ 19 ].
