The results of this present study is consistent with the findings of the Oxypurinol Therapy for Congestive Heart Failure (OPT-CHF) trial where those with uric acid levels of less than 565 μmol/l (9.5 mg/dl) showed a trend towards worsening compared with those with uric acid levels greater than 565 μmol/l [ 12 ].
