In addition, we used quantitative real‐time PCR to detect cytokine changes in temporal lobe cortical and hippocampal tissues; we found that although TNF‐α and IL‐6 mRNA levels were increased in temporal lobe tissues, the difference did not reach statistical significance and that the mRNA expression of iNOS and IL‐1β was not changed 3 days after SE seizures.
