Interestingly, while the observed increase in Ki67 + cardiomyocytes did not reach statistical significance (Fig. 3A ), we observed an increase in the expression of genes involved in cell proliferation including foxm1 (Forkhead Box M1) , ccnd2 (cyclin D2), cdk6 ( cyclin-dependent kinase 6), ccne1 and 2 (cyclin E), as well as cdk1 (cyclin-dependent kinase 1), whose activity is required for the cell cycle G1/S transition.
