A recent retrospective cohort study of 5718 cardiac patients who received thoracic and/or head and neck RT showed a strong trend toward significant reduction in both cardiovascular and cerebrovascular events in patients on statin therapy. 1 Cardiac patients were defined as those who had a history of acute coronary syndrome or who had undergone any coronary revascularization procedure (percutaneous angioplasty or coronary artery bypass surgery).
