Among the subfamilies with the round bottomed cuneiform bulliform phytoliths, a clear trend is identified: C3 grasses are associated with Oryzoideae, Bambusoideae, and Arundoideae types; C4 grasses are associated with Chloridoideae types (Table 1 ).
