We can see that the C=O group is oriented such that the oxygen atom interacts with the collection of convergent CH protons in the cage binding pocket, with several CH⋅⋅⋅O contacts from naphthyl CH and methylene CH 2 protons having H⋅⋅⋅O separations in the range 2.46–2.98 Å; individually weak but cumulatively clearly significant (Figure 2 b).
